Actually that is not entirely correct. Considering the subject of the discussion, it was not that bad.

We need to be able to parse the discussion points properly. Arguments against increase in H1 visa are not arguments against us or green card fixes.

We have to be honest about the issue. The fact is that when we are on temporary visa we have less rights and there is exploration. Both Mr. Trumka and Mr Hira explained these points well and Senators on both sides acknowledged that. And that is why we need more rights for immigrants on H1 and L1, and that is why we need more green cards so people can live free and are not taken advantage off by companies. Why else do we want green cards?

Just because companies are asking for more H1s doesnt mean they are supporting immigrant employees or that they support green cards. Try to filter out sweet-talk from facts.

Hi Admin,

What will happen next? whether this goes for voting or committee can reject this? Can Judiciary committee can remove the changes related H1B and present in the floor with proposed green card changes? so, it will become more or less HR 213.

Well, it sounds like Sen. Grassley is one step ahead of just "fixing" H1/L1 abuses. He is now against tech workers' ability to apply for green cards as well

Grassley Statement Concerning Immigration Reforms:
... Because the bill [S.744] would impose stricter U.S. worker protection standards for dependent employers, employers with a large percentage of H-1B workers and who would otherwise be classified as H-1B dependent employers could get around the worker protections, wage requirements, and displacement rules simply by applying for Green Cards for their foreign workers. The Green Card application carveout doesnít actually require the worker to have followed through and gotten the Green Card. All the company has to do is file the application. Iím told there has been an uptick in green card applications by dependent or near-dependent companies simply so such employers can use this loophole should it ever become law...
