Default Can I leave country after filing 485?

Hi Gurus:

Here is my position:

My PD current and I am going to file 485 next month Fed 2012. My visa expired in passport and have h1 extension approved till 2014.

Today something came up, I have to travel outside USA.

Can I go out of country, stamp visa and come back while my 485 is pending?

Thanks

Yes you can,
It would be beneficial to have the EAD/AP card as a back up plan just in case the H1 is rejected or delayed for some reason but there.
Also please be aware that you can only file your adjustment application when you are in the US, you cannot file for AOS from outside of the US. If you are planning on travelling in the month of january you will have to file for your AOS after you come back.
