Default I-485 question

Right now I am working with employer Y
My GC was filed by employer X. My I-140 has been approved (and wont be revoked) and Employer X will give me offer letter when PD becomes current, but I am not working with them.
Might I use ac21 even if I am not working for X? (in the event my i-485 is pending for more than 180 days?).
Employer Y is willing to write offer letter as well when 180 days pass.

And another question, how long does it takes for i-485 to be approved? I live in Virginia, I am an EB3.

I think yes.

As you said, X has agreed to provide you the sponsorship letter. That's enough.

If Y wants to sponsor you, wait for 180 days from the day of filing. If you haven't received the Green Card within that 180 days, you can sent Y's sponsorship letter to INS. (Provided the positions match)

But confirm with a lawyer!!

You can get some estimates from the tracking link below. (Don't forget to add your entry also. It will help people behind you.)

Yes I talked to him on Monday, I just wanted a second opinion.

It looks like in Vermont for an EB3 the wait is years

Position with Y is the same, only salary is a little higher.

I guess I will be stuck in I-485 for a long time according to the tracker
