Default Legislative change

Is IV thinking of legislative change:

1. remove country limits.
2. Do not count depedents in the quota.

Any suggestions requesting increase in quota will not go well with most of the lawmakers. Working within the current quota, but changing the legislative language will benefit folks stuck in the backlog.

Default DOL Backlogs

I think this is due to DOL backlog clearance. This year, DOL cleared lot of labour applications (Both Eb2 and EB3) and the employers sold them as usal. But with known fact that EB3 is already retrogressed, EB2 is in high demand. Most of the buyers bought EB2 products before july 16th and this is the end result. I think from now on words this will go on track, bcoz there is no more labour substitutes.

Default Any statistics to backup that theory... ?

What percent of these are labor substitutions? Food for thought... I doubt it's an incredibly high number to cause dates to retrogress so far behind, but I don't have the statistics to say one way or the other.

Time is favorable for USCIS to take sweet revenge on what happened for July 2007 VB. I think mostly 2009 some changes may happen to increase number of gc. Every year H1b quota also reached very soon and last year situation became worse but that was not enough to get attention of congress. Will GC issue will get attention in 2008? Wait and see
USCIS is consuming as many numbers as it can and DOS is retrogressing the dates as needed by law.

Mr. Senthil on whom USCIS is taking sweet revenge?

Why do you even visit these forums when you have a green card. You think you are superior than who dont have one?

Changes will happen when they habppen, they will not happen if no one tries.

I may not have GC but I own a home and have steady job and a great life. I dont have any problem if I have to go back . I will not leave without a fight for anything I want.

Exactly my point. Nothing makes sense , except one thing too many applicants.. very few visa numbers.

These are the valid questions that IV should get answer for. We should contact Mr Ombudsman and try to get these answers.

Default Join a state chapter

The different administrative and legislative fixes are part of the IV agenda. As far as I can see all the sensible fixes that has been discussed in pages after pages of threads are already in it.

I am starting to sound like a broken record but please consider joining a state chapter and getting more involved.

I think I am going to cut and paste myself from now

Default It is good.

I would say it is good that dates have retrogressed.

It is good because, it shall help us wake up to the reality. Specially those
who thought that they got their EAD and now dates would be current soon and
they did not need to contribute towards IV effort...

This may also make our case stronger while talking to lawmakers.

Post We are high skilled workers and should not do a Jackass reality show

In anything we plan or do to solve this retrogression problem we need to make sure we always come out as smart, intelligent and knowledgble. By doing something which will not work would reflect bad on ourselves. I agree with you on the media attention part. I can give 1001 smart ideas to acheive that and also come out as the smart ones.

PS: There should be a punch but we should not give a change for a counter punch

- get specific information about each participant/registered IV member willing to participate in this (at least name, field of work (e.g. physician, rocket scientist, tech slave, etc.), email address, years in the U.S., years of experience, roughly the range of salary ($50k-75k, 75k-100k, 100-125k, 125-150k.... )
- Send proposals to lawmakers/embassies/appropriate officials or organizations from these countries making an offer, detailing all of the above, accompanied by a significant media campaign of course... !
- "GET A POOL OF X,00000 highly-skilled professionals to work for your country. GET THE COMPETITIVE EDGE. GET THE HIGH-SKILLED HUMAN RESOURCES NECESSARY TO CREATE GOOGLES, YAHOOS, MICROSOFTS, improve health-care, education, etc. in your country"
- Ridiculous as it may sound... there's a media event right there...

Any takers?

Default that's the whole point ...

Since there are only few people left with PDs of 2000 that means the numbers for EB2 are used at a slower pace.
