Thumbs down Response from M Swift for the Mercury news article...

here is the guys response...a complete change of hearrt..>!!! Huh!!!

Hello Sir:

Thanks for your note. It seems many people read something that I did
not intend into the story, namely that anybody who stays beyond 6 years
on an H-1b is automatically illegal. The story did not say that and I
understand that is not the case, but I'll take the blame for what could
have been a better written sentence because a few other people drew the
same conclusion. However, I'll make sure to make it clear in future
stories that many people have the option to continue doing one-year
extensions after year 6. What I was trying to say was that if a person waited
until year 5 of an H-1 visa, they could have some big problems because
there is such a huge backlog right now for people applying for legal
permanent resident status. I was trying to point out that the backlog is
the problem.

"He was trying to point out that back log was problem..." This called flip flop. Certainly the way he wrote the article did not come out that way.

Lets just calm down here...he wrote something and we responded and he has expressed his feelings.

Going to far as apology, will just add more hatred towards immigrants.

Maybe we should take this oppurtunity and seek his help to publish more articles on backlog/legal immigration issues.

my 2 cents.

A retraction or a clarification would be more appropriate in this case.

I agree. Why keep quiet when somebody puts us down for no fault of ours. This is an election year and people will be paying a lot of attention to immigration issues, obviously. We definitely need to seek a retraction or correction and that should be published ASAP. And I hope IV's name gets into that article as the source for the correct information. That would put the spotlight on IV and we then can start pursuing him for future articles.
