I was going to furiously lobby for Sen Warren's amendment, but am deflated now. My STEM Master's was in 2005. Does anyone know who this section in 744 applies to: "Members of the professions holding advanced degrees or their equivalent whose services in the sciences, arts, professions, or business are sought by an employer in the United States, including alien physicians holding foreign medical degrees that have been deemed sufficient for acceptance by an accredited United States medical residency or fellowship program." (Pg 1207, line 23, S. 744 RS1S) It seems that this very vague, broad category has no green card limit or specific conditions other than employer sponsorship. What am I missing?
I agree with kingster here.....

Firstly thanks Admin for your update. No doubt this is the best bill we have got so far, thanks to IV and we should all support. I am part of local IV and this motivates me further

On other hand, the 10 year language of this amendment only gives USCIS reason to issue RFEs and lawyers a reasons to harass. The language "work in every year since graduation" is open to interpretations. eg I graduated in September 2007, took ~7 months to land my first job in April 2008 during OPT. So i didnt work in 2007(Oct, Nov, Dec). Now, per language I 'might' not qualify since i didn't work in 2007. I have no doubt most STEM IV members are in same boat - not many land jobs for few months once they graduate.....

We are pleased and excited to share that Senator Warren has introduced an amendment #1532 to address some of the key concerns of skilled immigrants.

Senator Warren's amendment include following fixes -

1.) Sharing green card, H1 and L1 paperwork with employees
2.) Fix for per country effective date
3.) Clarify job mobility for immigrants on AC21
4.) Fix for STEM definition to include backlogged applicants, increasing from 5 yrs to 10 yrs

Here is the amendment language:
http://immigrationvoice.org/media/Se..._Amendment.pdf

We have been waiting for these fixes to be filed before the next stage of our campaign. Now we start our campaign for calls/emails/faxes and increase the intensity for local meetings. To see this through, we need all hands on the deck. All that we ask from everyone is - stand-up for yourself and do your share, without which it will be impossible to make progress. But I know, that if we all work together, with Senator Warren's leadership, we will see these fixes through.

Thanks All,
Now the question is that will this amendment even be considered because there are more than 300 amendments submitted and senate is not going to look at all of them before voting.

How to ensure that this amendment is considered for debate in senate?

My friend, Senate is not a problem..it will pass. but it will be useless if house rejects it and House is where republican will not let it pass. just watch and hope for the best.

I do not think you are following action item properly.
Why did you call your Senator? And not your Senators + 98 others.
Why are you asking to support the bill? You need support of Amendment. Amendment and bill are 2 very different things. Lastly action item is for democrats and republicans. Call everyone. Call everyday again and again as many as possible.

One good idea is to have printout and mark when you called each of them. Once you complete all 100 you will know the update how many support amendment. I am doing the same and made 19 calls today.
