Default Urgent!! Am I out of status??

I am on H-1B visa and am on an unpaid leave of absence(requested by employer until I find a project) from Monday (09/22/08). Since I am on an H-1B visa, are there any problems with regards to my status? I also have an approved EAD valid until August, 2010. Is it better to switch to an EAD in this case? Please advice on the options I have and what would be ideal in my situation.

Thanks in Advance

Talk to a attorney but i think once you filed i 485 you are in status. To maintain h1 you need to be on payroll.
