What are gray dots? and how do u get it? and what does it mean...considering the fact that "green" is good and "red" is bad.

In the long term, India and US would be very close allies. They have to be to place a check to Russian & Chinese powers (neither of which are democracies).

US & India have to be allied in multiple different fronts. - Militarily, economically & technologically.

As immigrants to the US, us Indians have to act like ambassadors of India. We should aim for a strategic alliance with US, just as Israel enjoys.

So in that aspect, I believe it is good karma that we are associated with two of the worlds most free countries (largest democracies in the world are India & US).

The US- India alliance is still at its infancy. Lot of room for growth & opportunities.

Imagine 20 years from now, when the Indian economy becomes dominant in the global scale; As a citizen of India & your kids being PIO would not need visas to work in India !!!

Now would that be good karma or what?

Default Hope is the Mantra.......

yibornindia and others,

Yes, we are living in turbulent times and USCIS's immigration policies would drive you nuts. I understand the sentiments expressed here on IV and my sympathies are with you. I am one among you.

But, lets admit a fact that there are other fellow Indians/immigrants who are more deserving than us and are in far more pathetic conditions than us.

My journey started in August , 1997 when I landed at east coast in US. Applied for Labor in May 2001. Labor still pending, in 2004 the department got shut due to sell off. Had take a transfer to Los Angeles, to keep the status legal. Had to restart the LC process from CA in Nov 2004, only to be approved in 2007 May/June. Luckily all along I was on H1B without losing the job. With PD of Nov 2004 at NSC, RD of July 2, 2007 and ND Aug , 2007, I-140 approved, I am still in waiting game for the green.

I am sure there are lot more out there who could be in more pain than me and others.

Guys, GC is not the end of the world. USCIS can not and should not put a halt to our life. We should be the navigators of our lives not USCIS. What's the big deal if I don't get GC. I would happily return to my motherland-INDIA.

As people have said, India is far better place to live than other places. I would look forward to returning to my home one day. Don't you?

In end, One small advice to all. Instead of whining, complaints, enjoy the good moments with your loved ones and thank almighty for his blessings and bounties. If possible take part in the activism in any field you like. You can make the difference in others life.

Hum Honge Kamyab Ek Din.......................Man me hai vishwas, Pura hai vishwas......Hum Honge Kamayan Ek Din.

I started my GC journey just 1 year back, and I was thinking I am suffering. Your story opened my eyes. I will pray for you so you get your GC approval asap. Also your case shows that there are more issues than just the country quota, although it seems now LCA and other processing is much faster than it used to be.

hang in there...i came here in aug 1996 for studies and started working in 1999. Due neglect and ignorance on my part coupled with some back stabbing employer and bankrupt company during the dot com bubble my case got delayed. In 2007 we found out that we were stuck in namecheck since 2004.... hang in there...it all works out in the end.

Keep learning, strive to stay the best in your profession, GC or no GC life will go on, we will learn to adjust and carry on.

Default Completed 10th anniversary in US and still waiting...

Came US in Jan 1998 for studies and then started working since 2000. This is my 3rd attempt to start LPR process and finally in I-485 stage thanks to last year's visa bulletin fiasco. I had layoffs and suffered my career due to not having GC. But at the end, I love my motherland (India) for giving me so many things (almost free education is one of them) and at the same time I enjoy living in US (opportunities, free society, etc) too. In India we have great democracy which can give us (or our family) a permanent happiness - if you compare this with other countries which might give you a faster GC. Green card will come sooner or later.

Default Due to "An Unfair Green/Red System"

Gray dot comes, when someone trying to give red/green, but he/she is not matured/trusted enough in the system to affect your credentials.

Basically you have earned a lot in system and the person might be very much new to system. So try to judge from comments, whether it was for red or for green.

This is yet another flaw in the red/green system - some people didn't count - An Unfair System.

Default I must say, you touched a nerve.

I have a good friend of mine, neighbour and co-worker who came to US just 19 months ago. He is from one of the neighbouring country of India. He is a good person, and he won me very first day when he said "we are all basically same people, only seperated by borders". So this is not against him or anyone personally.

The reason for this thread is: Today he received much awaited CRIS email stating that his GC got approved. Our employer started his GC process barely a year and 5 months before. While I am atleast happy for him, I can't help but think about my GC which is pending for more than 4.5 years. All I can do is login everyday to check LUD and get disappointed.

We both are in EB2 and only difference is: I came almost 7 years before him to US and also did my masters here. The more I think about this it really frustrates me if being born in India is a Bad Karma or what?

* many ppl failed to understand the sarcasm in this post. Yes, this is a sarcasm. What I am actually trying is to highlight the flaw in policy which affects all of those from so called retrogressed countries.

Saints, like Prabhupada, said that it is fortunte to be born in India, because the environment is so condusive for spiritual development. (only purpose of human birth is to serve the Lord and get back to Godhead. Please dont forget Radhastami, tomorrow, the sunday. Please visit your local Iskcon temple for proper devotional worship. Radha is the female aspect of God.)

Perhaps "leaving india" is bad karma and we are all paying for it by working in the a materialistic world like asses losing our focus. (speaking for myself)
