The Republican targets for compromise are the usual suspects — Sens. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Scott Brown of Massachusetts, George LeMieux of Florida, Judd Gregg of New Hampshire, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Dick Lugar of Indiana — all of whom have expressed willingness to negotiate on immigration. Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is planning to meet with several of these GOP senators this week to see whether there’s hope for a bipartisan immigration bill.

Democrats have no specific timetable for immigration, but the next recess — a natural deadline for legislation — begins May 28.

Business groups, which have clashed with Democrats over everything from health care to Wall Street reform, have been working quietly with Congressional leaders and another one of their typical opponents — unions — to seek an immigration overhaul, says Benneth Roth

Right on the point !!, the funniest part is not all the Dem senators themselves support the immigration bill, check out how many dems opposed the motion 3 years back

It now seems that Reid will go ahead with the climate bill instead, guess they may have border security in place before looking into the Immig bill.

Default Nothing for EB again!

There are 26 pages in this document and half page for legal EB immigrants.

Pros
1.GC for MS in STEM
2.Per country limits removed

Cons
1.No increase in number of EBs
2.Now all counties will be backloged instead of just I and C. ( Misery loves company)

We disagree with your assertion that all countries will be backlogged. IV has advocated for removal of per-country limits measure for a very long time because we believe that removal of per country limits is essential for fixing the existing backlog and preventing future backlogs

We have publically listed removal of per country limits as our key objective. While we welcome the participation of everyone, if you disagree with us, you are welcome to use other resources available to you.

I agree that we desperately need media attention. No one knows our story, about people living in this country for 10-15 years legally without any GC relief.

Should we organize a rally or contact the media for interviews ?

Pappu/Admin, any ideas ?

From what I understand, GC for MS in STEM is not from a separate pool and it comes from the same EB one. This does not ensure a GC instantly, but will reduce the wait times to manageable levels for the retrogressed countries. On the flip side, non retrogressed countries too will experience wait times which they are not accustomed to so far. So it's a sort of spreading the "love" approach.

Thanks IV team.

Does IV know if Schumer is getting any traction after meeting with other republican lawmakers? Lugar indicated previously that he is interested in the EB part.

Default I disagree

Recapture and STEM can eliminate the existing backlog including PDs of 2009 EB3I within an year.

But then the damage is already made that there will never be a backlog built. Most of this backlog is because of wasted visas. There is a fragile balance between non-immigrant visas and immigrant visas. CIS screwed it up. But then once this is restored with the above provisions, for atleast until CIS screws it up big time again.

So lets just support this effort of IV unconditionally.
