Default Visitor Visa to Australia for Indian Citizen

I am planning on visiting Australia for about 10 days on work. Looking at the Australian consulate website, I cannot really figure out what visa to apply etc for an Indian citizen.

Anybody else has experience around this? Pointers appreciated.

I got my visa from Washington DC in 2007 and took me 10 min. They did not ask me a single question. Just took my passport and stamped it with visitor visa.

Me and my wife went on honeymoon to australia this year. We mailed the passports using Fedex and got back in 5 days with fedex.

Easier than you would think. Mail may not be safe but very convenient. Fedex is safest if you mail

Visited Australia this year for 3 weeks. Visa was a breeze. Mailed package to the embassy in DC via FedEx. Included a prepaid FedEx envelope for return. They got the package on Tuesday and I got the Passport back with the visa on Wednesday.

Default Any other recent experiences?

I have submitted my application to the embassy in Washington DC on Monday. Their helpline says that it takes average 10 business days for the visa. I am crossing my fingers.

Default The IO at the Australian Embassy

went out of her way to get me the visa in time for my flight on Sunday. Given the state of DC with the snow storm, I had given up hope.

She stayed beyond the embassy closing time of 4:30pm to personally hand over the envelope to the Fed Ex guy and then called me on my mobile. The issue was that both FedEx and UPS were not picking up packages from DC since last Friday.
