Ride the bus to Dc from the Tri State Area

Note: The ride is FREE. But any contributions directly to IV is appreciated.
Please indicate if you will be able to join the bus ride.We can have few locations within CT, NJ , NY and PA to pick up people.

Cost Structure just for reference only:
My preliminary research indicates that a bus can accomodate around 55 people. It can cost ~$900/day plus $3.50 per mile and I am not sure about the accomodation needs of the driver. So we are talking about aroun $3000, which comes out to be $60 per person , considering full capacity.

Will the bus cover Buffalo, NY?

singhsa3 08-20-2007 01:32 PM

Currently, we were thinking to originate from NY city. Any idea, how many people could be there from your area?

There should be a big immigrant community in Buffalo. Please take some flyers, meet people in malls, grocery stores etc. tell them about IV, its goals and achievements and ask them to join you for the rally. To make the rally a big success, IV needs initiative and support from people like you.

There are buses from chinatown/ NYC

There are frequest buses from chinatown in NYC every 15-30 mins in the morning. The cost is $15 each way. You can take the return trip from chinatown in DC by the same bus and it will cost you another $15. Eastern Travels is one of them. There are lot of private buses from Queens and Brooklyn too.

The price is $2100 including gas plus accomodation for the driver.
So around $45 per person , considering full capacity. Waiting to hear from other companies

Can we contact Eastern Travels and bulk book....$30 roundtrip seems reasonable.....Also, they would defenitly pass thru NJ and people from NJ can meet in a central location....

From NJ -> which location is the pickup ?

Its will be good if they pickup at Edison / Parsipanny Area (near to New Jersey Turnpike)

Return Travel from New York to DC - $35

Several private bus companies, e.g. www.premiumbus.com charge $35 for return trip between NY and DC. If there are enough people, special arrangements can be made to get extra buses. I am sure, they will arrange if there is business

Here are the buses from NY

Please check this link for buses from NYC to DC. The ticket prices used to be $30 round trip a year back, now they are charging $35 for the round trip. I have been to DC many times by these buses and their service and schedules are prompt.

You can make the booking online at the above mentioned site.

I am interested to go by bus. Although am still trying to convince my friends to attend the rally. If they agree, we'll go by car or else, I would like to go by bus. Btw, I live in NJ.
