Slogans for the Sept. 18th rally
Dear Friends,

Here are some slogans I could come up with.I have used famous US Presidential quotes in some of them so that they resonate with everybody including the common American and also show them that we appreciate this country which we are all trying to become a part of

America is too great for small dreams
Ronald Regan
Don’t squash ours. Act now!!!

When our memories outweigh our dreams
we have grown old
Bill Clinton
Looks like we have, waiting!!!!!!

We must use TIME as a tool, not as a couch
John F Kennedy
Congress please act now!!!!!!

All growth depends on activity
Calvin Coolidge
Not for us!!! Congress please ACT!!!!!!

Lincoln had faith in time and
time justified his faith
Benjamin Harrison
Act now and justify ours!!!!!!

We grow great by dreams
Woodrow Wilson
Don’t destroy ours. Act now

I want a kinder gentler nation
G H W Bush
We want a kinder ACTIVE Congress.

Green card? ( image of Green traffic light) .It feels more like RED ( image of Red traffic light)

My lifes’ on hold for Green Card
Don’t let my family’s be

Shackled without Green Card
Backed up by the system
Tethered to the same job
Stagnant without a promotion
Alas!! My life’s story

Life is not fair
Hope the Green card process is

my slogans - a small contibution to the effort.
Can you hear us? Congress sure can't.

We're not evil..that's why congress can't hear us or see us

I have super-powers..i'm invisible.

If you were me..u'd be here.

I was dreaming the American dream..until Congress woke me up.

Which is better be legal and have the law fail you ..or be illegal and fail the law?

How many congressmen does it take to recapture visa's?

Ok chaps! The final push
I'm hoping to finalize the banner slogans in the next day or so.... so act now for your final suggestions!

My previous tips include:-
  1. Keep it short and sweet
  2. Famous quotes about immigration
  3. Famous immigrants that have contributed to this country.

Stuck waiting for (or "Still Fighting for")
Life, Liberty and the
Pursuit of Happiness

All we are saying
Is "Give us a Chance"

I was actually waiting a movie about John Lennon and the US just today, and his peaceful protesting, immigrant status and ensuing battles got to be inspirational :)

Finally, I'll add some words from MLK Jr to hopefully inspire people to come to the rally and speak up for the cause

In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.

desibechara 08-26-2007 12:15 AM

my solgan

13 years in US legally...paid taxes and social security for the older people in US..
what do I get..wait for nothing..

When I applied for Labor in 2001..people told me that because after april30, INS had given some amnesty to people who ahd overstayed their visas..essentially labor was drowned under their pile...imagine it took them 5.5 years to get the document certified.

Now when I was ready to file for I485..and stuff..3000k applications have been applied..imagine where my application would be in that pile!!!

if this is not injustice what is then???

I also like the irony of the Englishman holding the:-
"Taxation without representation" banner.

ahhh... time for a nice cup of tea!

USCIS: Fees - 21st century, Service - 12th century

Waiting indefinitely is cruel and unusual punishment

Our actions are legal, USCIS actions are illegal

USCIS progess:
1985: I-485 fee - $50, processing time - 1 year
2007: I-485 fee - $930, processing time - eternity

snegrust 08-30-2007 03:09 PM

Illegal vs. Legal
I totatly think we should make it Legal vs. Illegal, as nnone sees distinction.

FYI, I have 2 flyers, in Russian and in Chinese. Where can I upload them?

pani_6 08-30-2007 03:39 PM

Give me Green
Give me Green;)

sonuus 08-30-2007 04:12 PM

More slogans..
-50,000 Visa used every year to create diversity using diversity lottery visa!

-Why discriminate high-skill employment on the basis of diversity again?

WeShallOvercome 08-30-2007 04:49 PM

Don't punish us for obeying the laws!

Stay competetive, Retain skill!

Help us Help America!

franklin 08-31-2007 12:55 PM

Need more slogans! Urgent request
Ok, help me out guys!

I urgently need some help with some more slogans.

They must be:-
  • Short
  • Clear
  • POSITIVE (not negative in any way)
  • Generic (i.e. abstract, not personal)

Good examples include:-

Higher Skilled Green Card Quotas Mean More American Dreams
Here Legally. Waiting 7 Years for Green Card
Calling Congress: Please Send More Green Cards
Per Country Limits Place Limits on American Dream

styrum 08-31-2007 02:24 PM

How long did it take your "alien" ancestors to "earn" the same rights "Americans" of that time had? I have been "earning" for 10 years and still counting.

American Express joke can be rephrased:

AmEx didn't have a problem issuing me a "green card" 10 years ago. Why do you still have?

Life2Live 08-31-2007 02:26 PM

Recyle It For Green

GC08 09-01-2007 08:17 PM

Not sure anyone had these already...
How about:

Backlog = Injustice to Legal Immigrants
Backlog = Weakening of American Competativeness

or something like that. You prabably can make the backlog equal to a lot of bad things.

GC08 09-01-2007 08:28 PM

Good questions!

Been wondering that for years!!! Given all the chaos, they probably wanted to eliminate employment-based green cards and make all immigration based on lottery. In the future, probably only gamblers can immigrate to America.

Have someone look through W-2s of people attending rally, add it up and

Slogan will be :" XXXXXX.. dollars paid in taxes and social security in 2006 alone"

centaur 09-01-2007 10:38 PM

I dont think people understand 485, slogans should be comprehended by everybody.

My recommendations would be to stress on :
1) We are here legally
2) we pay same taxes as anyone else
3) high skills and education
4) life stuck in limbo

Using technical terms like 485, retrogression, portability are not understood by common person walking by.
