I beleive the receive date on the I485 could be off. Mine was received by them July 2007 but the receipt said sep 2007.

now the issue..I wasnt married way back in 2007 and just sent in my wife's papers. they were received by uscis yesterday (per usps signature confirmation receipt). wonder if they issued both cards or just one. anyone knows what happens if they issue just one...

Chandini,

Did you take any action like opening SR or infopass appt etc to get attention to your case? I am wondering how they are picking up older cases first. There has to be some order, but we just don't know what it is. It could be as stupid as alphabetical. Previously, when there were paper files, it is understandable that they picked up whatever file they had in the top. Now, all the cases are in their system - can't believe they are still doing it at random!

Congrats! What is your priority date (there is no info in your profile). If they have approved just yours, I guess, you'll have to ask your senator for help. However, if the date does not remain current for you by the time they follow up, you are out of luck, until the date becomes current again.

Thanks reddymjm, that's what I hope for. BTW, do you/anybody else know how to find the date received? I do have a copy of labor ceritifcation that has "Date of acceptance for processing", is it the same or are there any other dates I should be concerned of? If so, where to get that info (I don't find my case no on USCIS case tracker as it probably went to Philly BEC).

Date received is the date when USCIS received your I495 application. It will be populated in the I-485 notice receipt that you would have received.

I would suggest to have following done within 2 to 3 weeks once you get the physical GC.

- New I-9 form submission to your employer
- Have "Valid for work authorization" condition removed from your existing
Social Security Card. Need to go to nearby SSA office and fill the
Replaement SSC form and present your Physical cards. All family
members having age more than 18 years will have to appear personally
to make this change.

Thanks.

Congratulations! Enjoy your freedom. did you get RFE? if so when did you reply?
I am wondering all the people who are on this thread got RFE or not? it is strange except one person nobody mentioned about RFE

I received RFE and USCIS received my response on 08/27. I know it is too early to even think about approvals but looking at the approval trends I am wondering people who got RFE may be delayed a little more than the rest..

any input is appreciated.

My wife and I got our I-485 approved today - finally! (EB3-I; NSC; PD: July 22, 2003; I485 filed in 2007)

It is a sense of relief more than anything.

Thank you all These past years, when the frustration got better of me, IV Forum has been a sanctuary for me! Some of the advice I got here have been invaluable.

It is my humble opinion that immigration reform will get more boast if people continue to support the reforms even after they get their GC/Citizenship. It is important to provide broader support and support to the principle of legal immigration. I will continue to do my best to support the reforms.

I wish and pray that all of you here get your GCs soon,

Best,

I mailed I-485, I-765 & I-131 on 7/31/2013.
Notice date: 8/6/2013
Finger Printing date : 8/23/2013
I-765 approval email for me(primary) and wife (dependent) : 8/27/2013
Recieved physical combo card for me and : 9/3/2013
I-485 approval email for me(primary) : 9/6/2013.

Recieved email and Online status for I-485 changed from Acceptance to Card/ Document Production only for my application.

Is it normal for application status to change from Acceptance to Card Production?

No update on my wife's application status yet.

Gurus, please provide input and let me know if this is normal procedure.

Thanks

For GC approval it would say "your card". If it is a "document" then most likely it is EAD or AP. Check the receipt number you are using to check the status. Is it for a 485 application? If it is the 485 receipt number then it probably is the status about mailing EAD/AP/Combo card. Looking at your priority date, you should be approved soon.

If the status update is for I 485 then it means you were greened in August 2007. Call USCIS and confirm as it was a crazy time and lots of confusion.

Also there were no combo cards then and EAD/AP have their own receipt numbers respectively.

Experts,

I only received approval emails for primary and 1 derivatives I-485 applications yesterday morning. Online status of remaining 2 applications still shows Initial Review.

Anybody knows, what could be the reason?

Wondering how long I should wait before I open a SR with USCIS.

May I know what needs to be done in the following case to get the I-485 going?

Currently my EB3-India 485 (PD- Aug 23, 2004) is pending since July 2007. I changed my employer three years ago, who filed my case in EB2 and EB2 140 got approved today.
Attorney sent an email to USCIS requesting them to adjudicate the existing 485 by matching it to new 140. Do we need to do anything else or would USCIS automatically review and approve pending EB3 485 based on recently approved EB2 140? Thank you in advance!

Hi all,

given that many of us now have GC, and to stay engaged in the advocacy process, maybe
we should look at advocating for causes that would be dear to us as well to be incuded in
the CIR/Conference process.

One thing, I can think of is that currently citizens can bring over their parents as Permanent residents, without any restriction or visa number being available. if that could be allowed for GC holders as well, it would probably make many of our lives much easier and let our minds be more at peace, given that many of our parents are aging...

With all respect to everyone's parents, What you are saying is Family based immigration. You will see more opposition to it because it increases chain migration.

What America needs is productive talent to improve economy and make it a leader in world. Bringing more dependents that are seniors will become a burden on its Medicare and other state systems.

I would like us to advocate reducing family based migration of all types and increasing skill based migration.

not asking for new category??
no country, society, can progress without family values and culture.
well there is already a provision for parents to sponsor, only difference is you have to wait till you become citizen. all he asked is the possibility of thinking if you can bring over your parents as a gc holder.
and if you think which is correct is burden on medicare, which will be in any ways once you bring them over once you are a citizen.
and if you think your thinking is smart which is, for advocating skilled based immigration..no oppose to that, but think fiscally how much money we will be sending over to parents out of usa to take care of them. how much time we will be taking off everyyear to visit them..loss of productivity..etc etc..
may be some people here open up a small business for their parents..revenue generator??

Hello Friends
I have very ugly situation in my green card. My attorney does not have any answer for me.
I created the SR but operator also waiting for the Immigration officer to answer my question. When i see my I-485 application it shows this.

Card/ Document Production

On August 8, 2007 we mailed the document to the address we have on file. You should receive the new document within 30 days. If you do not, or if you move before you get it, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

This step applies to applications that result in an applicant receiving a card (such as a "green card") or other document (such as a naturalization certificate, employment authorization document, travel document, or advance parole). Applications will be in this step from the time the order to produce the card/document is given until the card/document is produced and mailed to the applicant. You can expect to receive your card/document within 30 days of the approval of your application.

Can anybody suugest me it means my GC i approved long time back but I never received the card. I renew my EAD every two year and USCIS always renewed it.

Thanks

Even if the earlier note was an error, you are current now. Wait to see what you hear from the SR. If nothing, take help from your local Congressman/Senator. If they isue your GC for the old date, you are eligible for Citizenship :)

I am guessing that will run into a lot more opposition - since you are short-circuiting the GC to citizen wait itself. a bigger change than a smaller tweak to providing a benefit (to aged parents) who will need to be provided for one way or the other anyway, that is also more in line with the 'uniting families' ethos of U.S Immigration policy.

Based on what i have been reading it happens when your changed address get updated on file. Unfortunately this message looks similar to the approval message.

Back in 2007 though people did get approved when the dates had retrogressed because the cap number was attached to their cases when dates were current but that likely does not seem to be the case as you have got EAD / AP renewals done.

Try to get an infopass or call the 1800# and speak to L2 officer. As your dates are current you should be getting your approval soon. Good luck.

Finally got approved after 19 yrs. I came to the US back in 1994

My wife got her GC in the mail today (she is a derivative application, I am primary)

I have the I797 approval notice but no GC yet. I am in the Post Decision state. The letter says that I "may" need biometrics and that I should wait to hear back from USCIS. I called USCIS and spoke to an immigration officer and he told me that the case was approved but the state dept. may need biometrics. he asked me to call back in 3 weeks if I have not heard from anyone.

I am happy because the GC itself is approved. Is my celebration premature?

Did anyone else have a similar experience?

Congratulations to all who have have been approved. Best of luck and enjoy your freedom. It surely has been a long, long wait for us all.

IV has been by my side for many years as I have gone through this difficult period. If nothing else, it gave me purpose to keep trying and moving forward. Now that I am close to my destination I will not forget what this community has done for me. I pledge to keep giving to help the thousand others who are waiting patiently in the wings.

I request my newly minted fellow Green Card holders to continue to donate time and money to help this cause. It was there when you needed it, you need to be there when the cause needs you.

Thanks Bharam. Looks like USCIS is working even during weekends. This shows that, their goal is to clear all applications on their hand per Visa Bulletin. With the October's visa bulletin, they have even more 30 days to clear the backlogs. So keep up your positive energy! Its going to happen! :)

You just call 18003755283, then go for option lost receipt# and you will get hold of L1 officer. Ask status and request if possible to talk to L2 for more details on status.

Spill over is possible only after EB3 ROW becomes current. I think this movement of dates is not because of ROW numbers moving to India. One speculation is that there is some political game going on in the back ground to bring the max wait in EB to less than 10 years, possibly due to the proposed CIR giving pathway to permanent residency for illegals in 10 years. Not sure if that is true. When we get the actual number issued in FB & EB for each category/country, we would know where the numbers have moved from. It is likely to have moved from FB.

By the way, got GC approval email today! What a relief! I am pretty sure everyone who is current will get approval this month. Good luck to you all who are waiting!

I don't think I got any 'Welcome' status on the USCIS website. If I remember, it went back and forth between messages that said they have sent a letter and messages about card production. Once the card was shipped, the status was changed to include USPS tracking number.

The same day I got the card, I also got a letter from USCIS that had the 'Welcome' message. FYI - I got notified of I-485 on Sep 06 and got the card on Sep 12. Mine was NSC.

I finally got my GC (16 years and 8 months after coming to US). Want to share a couple of things: During the last week, the email alerts from USCIS went back and forth: (Card Production email, followed by Decision, then Card production again, then Card mailed and then decision. The card mailed alert has a wrong USCIS tracking number, but when I called USCIS and opened a ticket they called me with the right tracking number.
PD: July 2003, LC Approval Oct 2005, I-140 Nov 2005, 485 filed August 2007.

Dear All,
My 140 just got approved, and I am trying to port my date which is current. It is early 2004.
Please advise me on the following questions:
1. I would like to do interfiling, and NOT apply for any new 485. What documents do you recommend sending for intefiling, so as to avoid any RFEs. Do you recommend sending employer's letter stating that the job offer is still there, and needed. I just read that when filing 485, this letter is a MUST as time would have passed between PD and 485 filing date. USCIS needs to document.
Or do you advise not sending anything, as they just approved the 140, that has the employer letter anyways.
2. Any other documentation recommended to avoid a possible RFE
3. If I am sending the interfiling request today, how soon can I expect my greencard
4. Anything else you would like to advise me, if so, please. waited close to 10 years..

Thanks,

Thanks,

If your case is at TSC, then send an email to below address for interfiling. I did the same -

TSC, EB UPDATE <EBUPDATE.TSC@uscis.dhs.gov>
SUBJECT - Multiple approved I-140s and one has a current priority date;

In this email - you would write about
EB3 - I140 - Receipt Number, Notice Date, Approval Date, Priority Date
EB2 - I140 - Receipt Number, Notice Date, Approval Date, Priority Date
I-485 - Receipt number

Attach copies of your receipts.

Ask them to interfile. You should receive a response in a week from them about successful interfiling.

You should not get any RFE (Except if you never did fingerprinting in last 3 yrs). Because, with your new approved I-140, they should have all your job details, pay stubs, employment history etc.

I never sent any physical paper work. Just this email.

I sent this email on June 21. My PD was not current then..My PD became current on Aug 01, 2013 and I recvd my GC on Aug 06.
All the best!!!

My case is also changing same thing everyday. From card production now it changed to post decision activity. Do i need to call them??

No, based on my experience no need to worry or call them as yet. Their email alert system is kind of messed up and it is OK if the status goes back and forth. You will get your approval notice in regular mail. But, once you receive a mail that goes like the below and you do not have a valid tracking number, you may call them and find out the tracking number.
In my case, I got this email alert "The USPS reported that they picked up mail from USCIS containing your new card on September 11, 2013. The USPS tracking number assigned is #DCN". Since #DCN is not valid, I called them to make sure that they mailed the card and they gave me the proper tracking number. But I would have received the card even if I had not called them.
Another thing I want to share with you is that a friend of mine has the same priority date as mine, but did not get any email alert last week. So he called up USCIS and requested that his case be pre-abjudicated. Then, he got the approval ins 3 days.

Hi all, We just got the fingerprinting notice for my wife. problem is it is all the way in October first week. Does anyone know if the Application support center allows walk-in's or whether we can go before the date? Want to get it done with sooner rather than later to allow for more time for the GC approval...

Depend on the service center. I did it last time. if they are not very busy they will take it. so I will say go and try your luck.

I just received the mail: On September 17, 2013, we ordered production of your new card.
However, I got another email for my wife (dependent) stating below and her status is still in "Initial Review"
---
On September 17, 2013, your address was changed relating to the I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS that you filed. Please check our website at USCIS Home Page (http://www.uscis.gov) for further updates on your case. Please wait until the end of normal processing time before calling customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for live assistance.

During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews the applicant's/petitioner's criminal history, determines if there are national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the application/petition for fraud indicators.

If you have filed an I-485, I-589, I-751, N-400, I-90, I-821, I-131 or I-765, you can expect to receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints and/or photographs taken. The timing of your appointment is determined by the number of applicants ahead of you that also need a biometric appointment. We try to schedule biometric appointments as quickly as possible and in most cases you will receive your appointment notice within 30 days of submitting your application. We will send your appointment notice approximately 14 days ahead of your scheduled appointment. It is important that you keep this appointment. If absolutely necessary, you can request that your appointment be rescheduled however, please be aware that rescheduling may delay the processing of your application. Please follow the instructions on your appointment notice if you need to reschedule. Occasionally, you may receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints taken when you have filed a form other than those listed above. In these situations, you may receive your appointment notice more than 30 days after submitting your application or petition.

If you have questions or concerns about your application or the case status results

listed above, or if you have not received a decision from USCIS within the current

processing time listed*, please contact USCIS Customer Service at (800) 375-5283.

Do I need to contact USCIS? or is this typical for dependent?

Vegasbaby,
Congratulations!

I have two EB3 I-140s from same company. First one has priority date of 9/26/2003 (yes, off by few days) but this labor was stuck in backlog until the end of year 2007. I had another I-140 (PERM) with priority date of Jan/2006 and I used this to file 485 in 2007.

My question is, can I send email for EB3 to EB3 date porting as suggested by you here? Also, I thought I need to wait until my priority date become current but it appears you sent your email earlier - can I send email now (please note that my date is not current yet).

Thanks

All who are waiting for the card -- one word of caution .... At one point you will get an email saying that your card has been picked up by USPS. It has a junk Tracking number but if you log to the CIS site at that point, you will find the correct tracking number. Note it down because within a few hours USCIS will update the status as Decision and you will loss the tracking number.
