in 2011, my Mom was given 10years of b2 visistor's visa and my dad only for 1year last year. Dad's visa has been expired and they both haven't visited usa. Now this year they want to visit us. Could any one pls tell me how to proceed with my dad's visa renewal. Should I go for regular interview process or should I go for Drop box .. pls suggest

Under new interview waiver program your parents won't need to go for an interview if their visa expired within last 48 months. Here is the link from Delhi Embassy:

Interview Waiver Program | Embassy of the United States (http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/iwp.html)

However, they may need an appointment with USTravelDocs for fingerprinting etc. Following is the link:

Apply for a U.S. Visa | Home - India (English) (http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/index.html)

+1

The embassy link doesnt mention anything about criteria. Here is the one from USTravedocs (Visa appointment website)
Apply for a U.S. Visa | Renew My Visa - India (English) (http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/in-niv-visarenew.asp)

Although this link indicates that some people may NOT need finger printing appointment, I think everyone needs that as they don't use photo provided by you anymore. My last visa was issued in Sep 2009 so I thought I only need interview appointment (Feb 2013) but I had to go for photography and fingerprinting too.

I don't mean anything but I find it very odd that they gave your mom 10 years but your dad only 1 year. Did they attend interview together? I am assuming yes.

I have a feeling that the officer or someone made a typo and gave him 1 year accidentally.
