My friend was arrested for domestic violence in Virginia.

If he is convicted of misdemeanor and serves sentence, will he lose green card and get deported?

Will he lose the GC and deported only in Felony conviction, but not for misdemeanor charges?

Please reply.

depends on state laws.

The important thing is, he should not be convicted under Crime of Moral Turpitude (CMT) and not serve jail sentence of more than 6months.

It varies from state to state as what the sentence is. He/She should contact a good immigration lawyer to understand the consequences

A friend of mine had domestic violence record years back. He cant get citizenship because of that. He sometimes faces problems (if his wife is not with him) at the port of entry
