How much money you have donated?

This knee-jerk response to question the questioner is not needed.
Whether he/she has donated or not ...is not important.
Everyone who has contributed towards IV and/or intends to contribute towards IV will ask this question. It is not intended to insult or to question the laborious work done by IV. I am hoping more people realize this.

The answer to your question is that IV will not discuss the details of their expenses in public forums. I am not quite sure if its discussed in the donor forums.

However i think a general idea about what the expenses are is as follows.

These are my guesses : (IV Core please feel free to add/remove items to this list)

Ongoing Expenses: Maintaining this website, phone for IV, paying for reputed lobbying consultants, paying for attorneys to pursue important issues in court.

Advocacy Events: renting out hotel suites, possibly paying for lawmakers expenses to attend, advocacy packets for lawmakers, helping members with expenses to fly to DC and meet lawmakers, other miscellaneous expenses stationary/food etc

Please understand that this is an all volunteer based organization and there are no absolutely defined positions/roles played out by members. Members join and help out in areas where help is needed.

Hello all,
Does any body know why DOS isn't applying the spill over on quarterly basis... Law clearly stipulates that unused visa's should go to retrogressed countries..

Excerpt from may visa bulletin:

llocation of “otherwise unused” numbers in accordance with Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) Section 202(a)(5)

INA Section 202(a)(5) provides that if total demand in a calendar quarter will be insufficient to use all available numbers in an Employment preference, then the unused numbers may be made available without regard to the annual per-country limits.

Kate123:

Is suggests the spillover should occur, but doesnt specify when to apply the spillover and that could explain why DoS didnt assign the entire 12K pool of spillover numbers to all pending /preadjudicated petitions.

Can we see a list of all the positive outcomes of the various advocacy events, lobbying etc done by IV for the EB immigrant community please?
And, if any of those good outcomes are being implemented by USCIS to ease the EB backlogs?

I am sure there are other achievements since this was compiled but here is list till 2009
This list is also available in the "about us" section under the "Home" menu button

With due respect, Sir, this thread is entitled, "do YOU have a question?". Not "do YOU have an answer?". In the first place, did you have an answer to the person whom you questioned?

Hey, I have a question too

- How come people like me go red after 1-2 posts, and utter rascals here remain fully green even after redded by many?

That's neither helpful nor accurate. And you can help by not trying to get into any real debates. I will invite you when there is a name-calling party on. Promise.

Even though the context of your question and intention is suspicious at best....it's actually a really good question.

Let me restate it for the benefit of others

Q. How does the red and green rating system truly work?
A. The general rule that it is directly related to how much fellow members like your post holds true but there are also some finer details. Supervisors/admins can award much higher points either positive or negative. The total number of your posts even if unrated is a factor...generally unrated posts tilt the balance towards positive...which makes sense since no one found it offensive.
So becoming green is easy when the majority of your posts help your fellow IV members.
It's really tough to stay red when you have a large number of posts cause lots of fellow members have to rate your posts negatively.
Hope this helps.

Admins can chime in here and clarify if I haven't explained it right.
It's good to have a clear explanation of policy.

Does this forum software have a buddy list / block list feature?

I have seen this on other forums and the block list might be a nice feature to help block irrelevant people / messages. :o

This may even stop some of the fights

Hmmm so what if I find your description "suspicious" because of the word "suspicious"? Me just stated facts buddy. Here is definition of rascal from online free dictionary:

ras·cal (rskl)
n.
1. One that is playfully mischievous.
2. An unscrupulous, dishonest person; a scoundrel.

I mean #2 here. Unscrupulous because they misuse the forum for ranting and bashing others, dishonest because they bash others they perceive as "bad" for their own GC while pretending to be in IV for everyone's good. Scoundrel, because because they operate on multiple ID's

Some are plain old #1, but they harm too.

So, this is my explanation why I used the words "utter rascals". Come on, now you can give me some greens, because it "helped" you to understand what I meant :p

Unfortunately there are some dimwits here whom the explanations didn't help in understanding.. I give them reds for not helping by trying to understand by asking questions and being dumb instead
