A SINCERE REQUEST TO ALL THOSE VISITING THIS WEBSITE:

PLEASE ERASE THE MISCONCEPTION THAT IV IS AN ONLINE FORUM, PLEASE GET ACTIVE IN YOUR STATE CHAPTERS !

Texas folks, just make a couple hours available with your family to attend the next meeting and see for yourself the work that is being done to benefit this community.

We have Texas members on board right now who have their green card and still working for us. It just doesn't feel right to do NOTHING when these people are doing work that will benefit me in some way. And you will make the same decision when you meet them and talk to them, and when you hear some of the painful stories of our fellow members.

Dear Texas IV Members:

This past year has been an exciting year. IV has finally arrived and
is poised to effectively influence high skilled immigration policies.

Who is Immigration Voice?
-------------------------
"YOU"(sic) are IV. Without you, IV will not exist. I want YOU to take
a moment and pat yourself for a job well done. If not for members like
you, issues related to the Green Card process and the hardships faced
by families and individuals would not have come to light. While there
are still many members who are not pro-active, rest assured, their
goodwill and wishes are with us and with our cause. Through my eyes,
Immigration Voice is the most effective all-volunteer grass roots
effort there is for high-skilled immigration. Years ago, when I was
working under the mercy of consulting companies, I envisioned that one
day we will all come together and stand up for our rights. Immigration
Voice has given me, and thousands of individuals like me, a platform
to stand up for my/our rights.

A simple calculation
--------------------
Why do many of us don't get involved as much as we want to? Are we too
lazy? Or are we afraid of committment? Is IV just a line of
communication for all GC related issues? Are we scared of reprisal? Or
are we simply put, plain selfish?

Consider this situation. You go to a fancy and an upscale restaraunt.
The average price of a dish is $100. You know that in advance but you
want the best of everything. The host at the front desk asks you if
you have a reservation? You tell him that you do. He quickly scans his
reservation list and welcomes you with a smile. You are served fine
champagne and you order your appetizers. Everything seems fine and you
are soaking in the decor and ambience of the experience. When the time
comes to order your main course, the waiter apologizes in advance and
lets you know that you can order only "Dish 2" since they are out of
the other dishes.

Your face turns red and you demand to see the manager. 15 minutes
pass. The appetizers metabolize in a flash and your mind starts
screaming for more food. The manager finally meets you and reaffirms
whatever the waiter said. Your appetite comes in the way of a sound
judgment and you decide to order "Dish 2" priced at $200. For the next
1 hour, the dish never shows up at your table. You are at your wits
end. What do you do?

a. Walk away, paying for the champagne & appetizers?
b. Meet the manager again and look for free food coupons for the bad
service?
c. Pay and walk away deciding to give a bad review to this restaraunt?

When there are so many options for the above situation, why do a
majority of Immigration Voice members tend to choose just one, aka -
Sit on the sidelines and get mistreated by USCIS. Have you not paid
for the privilege to be a Permanent Resident? Pull your calculator and
lets do some simple math -

Lets assume that on an average you make $50,000/year in gross salary.
For sake of simplicity, the federal, state, medicare and social
security levied on your paycheque is roughly 25%. A simple calculation
will show that you have paid $12,500 in taxes and other charges. For
the next 6 years, assuming that your salary is constant (highly
impossible), you would have ended up paying $75,000. You still don't
have the same privileges as a homeless man does on the streets, i.e.
vote. The irony is that the homeless man gets his medical needs taken
care of with your medicare and/or social security contributions.

Compate the whole situation to that of a victim of extortion. The
mafia demands that you pay X amount of dollars to live in their
territory. I could keep going on this on and on, but that is not my
intent. My intent is for you to wake up and realize what you are going
through. Again, I am not glorifying the Green card, nor am I
understating its benefits. I am simply asking you to get pro-active on
this topic.

What can I do?
--------------
To influence high skilled immigration reforms, stories of blood, sweat
and tears are not enough. In this era of capitalism, everything
revolves around money. The good news is you don't have to pay a
million dollars to do just this. If you put your calculator away,
bring out again. Even if you signed up for a monthly contribution of
$50 a month, you would have contributed 5% of the total taxes you pay
in a year. Looking for a one time payment? Why not contribute 1% of
the total taxes you pay? Is 1% too much? How about 0.5%? If everyone
like you contribute 0.5% of the total taxes they pay, we can achieve
a lot.

So, folks, please contribute to the IV-Omnibus fund raising effort
started by our very own Niloufer from Dallas. I know many of you
haven't contributed so if you have the feeling of doing something for
IV,now is the time.

I AM GOING TO GO ON A FAST TOMORROW (FOR YOUR GC)
-------------------------------------------------
There are 116 members in the texas chapter. I have set a goal of $5000
to be raised by our State Chapter. In order to help the fundraising
drive, I am going on a fast for an entire day tomorrow until we
reach $5000 as a state chapter. Contribute to the effort and help me
to break my fast.

All we need is for each of you to contribute $50.

Send donations less than $100 to donations@immigrationvoice.org (donations%40immigrationvoice.org) via
paypal and post your receipt number on this list.

Here is the link to contribute for more than $50:
