Interesting - I used to live in Atlanta - thousands and thousands of immigrants flock Atlanta everyday - Iam surprised that this thread looks dull. Atlantans come on, please moblize your chapter.

Thanks for the bumps people... somehow interest seems to be low in Georgia for mobilising. But those who care will keep working.

I attended the rally and met some nice members from GA. We want to ramp up the activities in the state level. This meeting in Sunday is the first step.

do we bring our families and kids or what?

I think its entirely up to you. If your spouse is also actively involved with IV and would like to be involved in the state chapter, then surely. If you think children would not be a hindrance, then you can get them too.

Its entirely up to you!

You still thinking about joining the chapter. Read this.

<i>
At a recent AILA Conference, Michael Ayetes (USCIS Associate Director, Operations) announced, that during the months of July - August 2007, USCIS had received approximately 800,000 employment based adjustment applications (I-485s): 40,000 concurrently filed with I-140 petitions, 320,000 stand alone applications, and 400,000 dependent applications.

Of the 140,000 annual employment-based immigrant visas available, second and third preference categories are allocated 57.2%. If most of the employment based cases filed in July-August 2007 were second and third preferences, it could take approximately ten years of allocation to complete all these cases.

Although USCIS has posted on its website that I-485 cases received on or before August 9, 2007 have been entered into the system, a number of attorneys have not yet received receipt notices for cases filed at the end of June and July 2007. Moreover, some cases initially filed in Nebraska and transferred to Texas have now been forwarded to the Vermont or California Service Centers for faster processing of receipts.

USCIS is making every effort to process EAD applications within 90 days of receipt. The processing of Advance Parole applications may be delayed due to the number of cases filed.

A Biometrics notice will be issued even if a visa number is not available at the time.

I'm July 2 filer got receipts and EAD. But looking at this 800,000 applications received in 2 months looks like I'll be on EAD forever. So if you are in Georgia stuck in this mess join the state chapter google group. Slowly but surely we can make a difference.

We will have the first meeting this Sunday Oct 7th and you can meet other like minded people in the same boat.

We had a very good meeting today. Thanks to rambo45 for making arragnements. Members were very ethusiastic for pushing IV's goals and growing the IV membership in Georgia.

We shared the DC rally experience, Lobby day and other topics related to green card issues. We heard many good suggestions and will be following up on the coming weeks on action items.

If you are in Georgia and missed the meeting, don't feel bad ;) we will have more meetings in the near future. However do signup to become member of google group formed specifically for GA chapter. Details in my signature below.

I'm glad we had this meeting. After DC rally, I'm meeting dedicated people again fighting for a greater cause .

We had a great meeting last Sunday. We had more than 15 people who showed up. Everyone was very enthusiastic about supporting IV and joining together to a common goal.

Right now we have a "know your lawmakers" drive going on where you can read about the Georgia delegation and familiarize yourself with them.

We plan on attending townhall meetings or other possible events and communicating a singular message with the lawmakers on our issues.

We will have a concentrated effort for all action items that IV core comes up with.

Please join the google group now and just connect with the rest of us. This is the first step for a grassroots campaign...join now and help yourself get a better future.
