I am a Legal Permanent Resident and want to go out of the country for some time. I learn from the USCIS website that a period of less than 180 days is permissible in the pretext when I donít intend to use reentry permit.
Please advise from your personal experience as to how many maximum number of days in a year I can reside outside US, practically speaking, in order to avoid any unexpected or difficult situation whatsoever at the time of interview for US naturalization/citizenship. Matter found in law books many times speak different from the reality or practical aspect of a situation.

You can stay less than 365 days (1 Year) without reentry permit. My bro has a GC and he recently entered US ( Dec 09) after completing his studies in India with in 365 days and no major questions asked at POE.
